So, About Sylar Being Alive on Heroes

I'm not sure where they're going with the Sylar character. Last season he was an unpleasant character who made for a memorable villain and contributed to many suspenseful episodes. However, as a trick Sylar definitely fits into the play once category as he was ridiculously over-powered.

Now that he's back [albeit powerless] and traveling across Mexico with the two siblings it looks as if Sylar is going to start collecting brains again. Of course, that's how it looks and it could all be a piece of subterfuge from the writers.

However, if Sylar is just going to rinse and repeat like he did last year then it would be weak writing on behalf of the storytellers. Sylar as a villain is spent, although one could argue that doesn't necessarily mean Sylar as a character is spent. Indeed, they might have plans to make him into a reconciliatory chaotic good type of character however unlikely that sounds.

The show needs to have a new menace, and hopefully the alluded bogey man from last season steps up. It was a nice twist that the BM was revealed to be Parkman's dad last Monday, which should make for a happy reunion.

However, going back to Sylar it would get really old if he was again the main menace. Perhaps the writers are going to set up an X-Men/Brotherhood split between the heroes, which would certainly be interesting. Yet on the flip side Sylar's character established that he wasn't the sharing type and he seemed to have an insatiable hunger for other people's powers. One could imagine the outcome of any evil heroes conventions that sent Sylar an RSVP....
